Overview:
The Director of Pricing & Programming is responsible for planning, forecasting, directing, negotiating, and coordinating the pricing of brands suppliers at a statewide level. The Director of Pricing & Programming is the ultimate business generalist that negotiates plans, collaborates, and communicates pricing and budgets, owns GP and related items in the best interest of the Young's Market Company.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and analyze gross profit fluctuations by identifying cause, then providing recommendations and corrective actions as needed.
Develop and implement pricing structure models for all SKU's in all hannels of trade. Insure capture of proper Young's Market Company (YMC) and supplier contributions.
Gather and analyze data from an assigned supplier portfolio and various levels of YMC Sales Management in order to set pricing that will maximize profitable volume opportunities at all levels of YMC business.
Monitor and maintain quantity discount integrity across all channels of trade by overseeing statewide price structures and discount evels. Keep open communications with network state counterparts and VP's of Programming on structures and discounts.
Identify and evaluate ramifications of pricing/programming activities in selected channels. Provide cause and effect analysis of these activities on other channels and states.
Initiate and drive gross profit directional meetings with Suppliers to improve YMC profitability by negotiating and leveraging Supplier chargebacks/funding amounts; identifying key margin enhancement opportunities within each portfolio; evaluate and advise of potential ricing opportunities on a brand/category basis; and oversee YMC and supplier driven price increases.
Oversee the retail pricing landscape for all channels and work in unison with Channel VP's to protect gross profit and brand equity.
Manage aged inventory and drive corrective action to minimize excess inventory, i.e. drive closeout programs.
Communicate, release, and update pricing changes to the sales organization.
Create and distribute monthly special pricing cards / discounts assortments to support sales drives.
Review and approve spending requests and purchase orders for chargebacks that get allocated to the Liquor Marketing Fund Banks.
Coordinate any Supplier / Brand / item assignments and reporting needs to IT.
Act as the mail point of contact for new Suppliers during the initial onboarding phase to YMC.
Responsible for creating new item proposals, new item set-ups, VAP set-ups, and allocations.
Provide the Sales Programming teams with guidelines and benchmarks for Brand gross profit requirements and targets.
Act as the initial point of contact to receive fiscal year goals for all channels. Enter Key Supplier fiscal year goals by channel into the Goal Entry system as a first-cut review for the SVP's review and final approval.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. This position will further require the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. This position also requires the ability to interpret extensive variety of instructions in mathematical of diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
SKILLS/ABILITIES :
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) environment.
Must have advance Excel skills with direct experience in Pivot tables, macros, building preadsheets, and presentation exhibits.
Knowledge of AS400 and Driver systems preferred.
This position requires strong negotiation skills and a sales personality with proven decision making and multi-tasking abilities.
Must have previous industry experience, including but not limited to understanding of the four key Channels of Trade; complete knowledge of Category sales information, product types and sizes; knowledge and credibility to effectively interface with YMCo SVP's, Channel VP's, Branch Managers, and VP's of Programming; and experience in establishing break even points as well as investment spending.
Must be a highly self-motivated individual with strong analytical and pro-active problem solving skills.

Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university in Finance/Business Administration/ Economics or other business discipline is preferred.
A minimum of five years of experience in a pricing/finance role with direct experience in setting and establishing S.K.U. pricing is required to successfully perform this job.
A least seven years of experience preferred to be successfuly performance this job.
